Happy Saturday my crochet friends!
Here we go again, the Amigurumi Showcase design contest is back on Instagram and this year it had a specific theme: super heroes! The amigurumi also had to fit in the palm of your hand, same as last year.
For a bit of background, this design contest was open to all amigurumi designers with less than 5k followers and is hosted by Lex @lex_in_stitches, Carrie @ohanacraft, Amanda @belleandgrace_hcm, Andreia @lemonyarncreations, Grace @amimaland and Lisa @made_by_penguins. Those ladies had the very hard task of shortlisting only 6 designs from all the entries received!
Similarly to last year, I designed an Australian animal which I felt deserved to be in the spotlight: a blue-banded bee! Those guys are super important because they pollinate many of our Australian native plants. The free pattern for Bubbles the Blue-Banded Bee will be available in a few weeks and I can’t wait to share it with you!
In the mean time, here are the 6 shortlisted designs, which will be released for free on Instagram between the 6th of September and the 11th of October. Don’t forget to go vote as well for your favourite on the 16th of October to support the designers!
Do you like the shortlisted designs for this year? Have you entered the showcase? If you’re planning to release a free pattern for this year’s showcase, I’d love to know, because I am going to do a roundup like last year and I can wait to crochet lots of patterns!
Your blue banded bee 🐝 is wonderful!
Thank you Kathy! I had lots of fun making this one, I think it’s the perfect tiny Australian hero! ☺️
