Hello crafters!
Here is the pattern for Naiad the Nudibranch. When I was in undergrad, I moved to Australia to study marine biology and fell in love with the colourful sea critters of the Great Barrier Reef. Most of my patterns are inspired by my love for the sea and I hope you will enjoy making this nudibranch as much as I did creating it.

Materials
• DK or 8ply yarn in red, yellow and brown (I love to use Ricorumi DK*)
• 3.75 (F) crochet hook*
• Stitch marker, tapestry needle and scissors
• Polyfill*
Abbreviation used (U.S. terms)
sc: single crochet
st: stitch
*…*: repeat
dc: double crochet
sl st: slip stitch
inc: 2 single crochet in the same stitch
dec: single crochet 2 stitches together through front loop only (invisible decrease)
Finished size: approx. 15 cm/6 inches
All pieces are worked through both loops of the stitches and in the round without joining unless stated otherwise in the pattern. It is recommended to use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. To make it easier, stuff the body as you go.
Body – in red make 1
Work in rounds
Ch 26
Round 1. sc 1 in the second ch from the hook, sc 23 down the chain, inc in the last ch.
On the other side of the chain, inc, sc 23, finish with sc 3 in the last ch
Rounds 2-5. sc in each st around
Round 6. *sc 25, inc x2* around
Rounds 7-8. sc in each st around
Round 9. sc 2, inc x2, sc 27, inc x2, sc 25
Change to brown
Round 10. dc 3 in each st around
Sl st to the top of the first dc, fasten off and weave in ends.
Rhinophores – in yellow make 2
Work in rounds
Round 1. sc 4 in a magic ring
Rounds 2-4. sc in each st around
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Gills – in red make 1
Work in rounds
Round 1. Pick up 8 st in a circle at one end of the body
Rounds 2-4. sc in each st around
Now, each gill is worked up individually, but there is no need to fasten off between each.
Ch 6, starting from the second ch from the hook, sl st in each ch down, sl st in the next sc. Repeat 8 times in each of the sc
Fasten off leaving a tail to sew the tube close.
Base of the body – in red make 1
Work in rounds
Ch 21
Round 1. sc in the second ch from the hook, sc 18 down the chain, sc 4 in the first ch. On the
other side of the chain, sc 18, finish by sc 3 in the last ch
Round 2. *sc 20, inc x2* around
Round 3. *sc 20, inc x4* around
Round 4. sc 21, inc x6, sc 22, inc x6, sc 1
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing to the body.
Assembly
1. Sew the rhinophores on, at the opposite end from the gills between rounds 3-4 of the body.
2. Sew the base on the body, joining the last round of the base to round 9 of the body. When there is only a small opening left, stuff the body firmly and finish sewing the base on.
