Happy Science Week everyone!
I am really excited to release another free science pattern for Science Week this year. My son has been learning all about molecules and the periodic table, so I decided I would make this cute water molecule for him. It is a really easy pattern, and you can find more quick and easy free science patterns in my other post – Mini Science Glassware.

Materials
• DK or 8ply yarn in red and white
• 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Stitch marker, tapestry needle and scissors
• Polyfill
Abbreviation used (U.S. terms)
sc: single crochet
st: stitch
*…*: repeat
inc: 2 single crochet in the same stitch
dec: single crochet 2 stitches together through the front loop only (invisible decrease)
Finished size: approx. 5 cm
All pieces are worked through both loops of the stitches and in the round without joining unless stated otherwise in the pattern. It is recommended to use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.
Oxygen – in red make 1
Work in rounds
Round 1. sc 6 in a magic ring
Round 2. inc x6
Round 3. *sc 1, inc* x6
Round 4. *sc 2, inc* x6
Round 5. *sc 3, inc* x6
Rounds 6-10. sc in each st around
Round 11. *sc 3, dec* x6
Round 12. *sc 2, dec* x6
Start stuffing your oxygen molecule now.
Round 13 *sc 1, dec* x6
Round 14. dec x6
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Hydrogen – in white make 2
Work in rounds
Round 1. sc 6 in a magic ring
Round 2. inc x6
Round 3. *sc 1, inc* x6
Rounds 4-6. sc in each st around
Round 7. *sc 1, dec* x6
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing and stuff the hydrogen molecules.
Assembly
1. Sew the hydrogen molecules to either side of the oxygen molecule, between rounds 9 and 12.
